The 44’s are a Los Angeles-based blues-roots-rock group whose raw, rough-and-tough live performances infuse their sophomore album, Americana, released in 2012, with an immediacy that speaks to a deep respect for a storied blues-and-R&B lineage.

The current lineup features two of the founding members Johnny Main and Michael Turturro. Johnny Main on vocals and guitar, delivering true grit and a soulful honesty with his Greaze-and-Grit vocal styling; Brian Fahey on drums (whose credits include The Paladins and the William Clark Band); Chef Denis on harmonica; Kid Ramos on guitar, renowned for his work with The James Harman Band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and The Mannish Boys; and Michael Turturro on upright and P bass duties (Lynwood Slim, The Memphis Kings, Paul Pigat, Joe Wood of TSOL).

Credits for the band’s progress include the self-produced debut album Boogie Disease (2010), created with the help of Kid Ramos, which reached No. 9 on the national Living Blues radio charts and No. 2 on BB King Bluesville SiriusXM. The record earned American Blues News’ Best Blues Band of 2011 and Blues Underground Network’s Best Debut Album.

The 44’s have become a favorite among club and festival crowds across North America and Europe, delivering a high-energy, in-the-moment blues that honors the lineage of Howlin’ Wolf, Albert Collins, Muddy Waters, the James Harman Band, and the Red Devils while pushing the genre forward with vintage instruments and a raw, contemporary edge.
